NAB’s climate bond blazes a new trail

NAB's ground-breaking climate bond finances clean energy investment

Funds raised by the National Australia Bank's ground-breaking Climate Bond are financing a portfolio of renewable energy assets around the country.

The $300 million Climate Bond, issued in December 2014, was the first by an Australian issuer and was supported by a $75 million cornerstone investment by the CEFC.

The funds were earmarked for a portfolio of renewable energy assets, and are now supporting wind farms and solar energy facilities located in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and NSW, with an estimated total capacity of over 2GW.

This NAB Climate Bond is certified to comply with the international standard set by the Climate Bonds Initiative, a global benchmark which allows investors identify investments which contribute to climate change solutions.
