Sustainability
As a specialist investor we play an active role in contributing to the achievement of Australia’s greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Sustainability considerations are central to CEFC investment and portfolio management activities, reflecting our role in accelerating investment in Australia’s transition to net zero emissions.
Our approach to sustainability
Our investment screening processes include climate-related opportunities and risks, with our investments supporting measures that positively impact targeted climate-related matters, including emissions reduction. Our Annual Report provides enhanced climate disclosures, including information on financed emissions. The sustainability of our own operations is also important, with the CEFC having achieved net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions.
The CEFC is committed to a well-governed investment approach that incorporates Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) objectives that enhance sustainable and long-term risk-adjusted returns.
CEFC investments must comply with the CEFC Act, supporting eligible clean energy technologies in renewable energy generation, energy efficiency and low emissions technologies. This is achieved through proactive engagement with counterparties, managers, financiers and other stakeholders on material ESG issues, in parallel with appropriate investment risk mitigation.
