CEFC welcomes Dr Kate George to the CEFC Board

The CEFC has welcomed the appointment of Dr Kate George to the CEFC Board.
Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen made the announcement yesterday.
Dr George is a distinguished business leader with experience in the public, corporate and community sectors, who has worked extensively across the resources industry, regional and Indigenous business, infrastructure and asset management. She has held a number of Board positions and is currently a member of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Board and Co-Lead of the First Nations Clean Energy and Emissions Reduction Advisory Committee. She is Principal Consultant at Claypan Services.
Dr George is a Putejurra woman from the Murchison-Gascoyne region of Western Australia, was the first Aboriginal student to graduate in law from the Australian National University, the first Aboriginal woman admitted to practice law in Western Australia, and one of the first Aboriginal women to chair an ASX-listed company. She is also part of the Stolen Generations.
Dr George’s appointment took effect on 4 November and is for five years.
She replaces Matt Howell, who was appointed to the CEFC Board in 2022 and resigned in June 2025.
