The CEFC plays a critical role in accelerating essential grid and transmission projects and optimising existing systems to power the nation as Australia travels a lowest-cost pathway to replace retiring coal-fired generators with renewable energy and storage, backed with gas.

CEFC investment in grid and transmission projects bridges commercial market gaps to accelerate projects and help lower energy costs.
To 30 June 2026, the CEFC had:
- Achieved $11.3 billion in grid commitments
- Supported ~2,000km in transmission build out
- Unlocked more than 14GW of renewable and storage capacity which can meet the needs of more than 5 million Australian households.
Investment Highlights
CEFC investment commitments to 30 June 2026 consisted of two completed projects, five projects under construction and 11 transactions which had reached CEFC financial close.
Those projects included:
- EnergyConnect, which increases renewable energy sharing between NSW, South Australia and Victoria
- Transmission infrastructure that provides extra clean energy capacity and connects to the MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct in Queensland
- Construction of Marinus Link to connect Victoria and Tasmania via undersea and underground electricity and data cables.
